The “Digital Slingshot” Testbed available also for schools

How can we make knowledge about digital technologies even more accessible to the public? The Digital Slingshot testbed is opens its doors to elementary and secondary schools. We have decided to expand our practical education through the Digital Slingshot testbed to include elementary and secondary school students as well. It makes sense to us—building digital competencies should start as early as possible! At the same time, during our school visits, we naturally work with educators, the program thus provides added value not only to students but also to teachers.

How the program works
The program is designed to last 90 minutes (with the option to extend it up to 180 minutes) for a single class with a maximum capacity of 27 students. The lesson consists of three alternating thematic blocks:

  • a guided tour of the Digital Slingshot testbed with commentary and a practical demonstration of AI use
  • an introduction to social robots (Ohbot, Robic)
  • virtual soccer as a lighthearted part of the program

AI in practice: creating your own characters
A key part of the program is working with artificial intelligence. Students are divided into small teams and create their own fictional characters—from designing the name and appearance to crafting the story. Under the guidance of experts, they then try their hand at generating outputs using AI. The result is a unique 3D model, which we will print for each group and subsequently send to the school.
