On September 11, 2025, the Technical University of Liberec (CXI – Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation) hosted the Digital Glass event, organised as part of the EDIH NEB project by our Regional Development Agency in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec and the Liberec Region. The professional networking event, which was part of the nationwide Week for Digital Czechia, attracted representatives of glass companies, researchers, and digitisation experts.
Participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring lectures from, among others:
- doc. Ing. Vlastimil Hotař, Ph.D. presented trends in 3D printing and glass recycling using new materials,
- Lukáš Eršil showed practical applications of artificial intelligence in glassmaking – in design, marketing, and production.
Practical demonstrations of digital technologies – from glass printing and 3D printing to the presentation of the Glassiteca project, which focuses on the use of waste glass – were very well received. The program also included an excursion to the CXI TUL laboratories, where guests were introduced to the latest technologies and opportunities for cooperation with the university.
The event confirmed that combining traditional glassmaking with digital innovations is the key to greater efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness for companies in the region.
