Testing Assistive Technologies for seniors

The Liberec Region Tests Assistive Technologies for seniors at RoSa Residence

How can modern technologies help older adults live safely and independently in their homes for longer? This question is being explored through a pilot project implemented at RoSa Residence in Liberec with the support of the European Digital Innovation Hub Northeast Bohemia (EDIH NEB), operated by the Regional Development Agency of the Liberec Region.

As part of the Test before Invest service, one of the apartments was equipped with a set of assistive and telemedicine technologies designed to monitor safety, health conditions, and environmental quality. The tested solution includes an SOS emergency button, motion and presence sensors, temperature, humidity and CO₂ sensors, as well as telemedicine devices such as a blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, glucose meter and digital thermometer.

The aim of the pilot project was to verify how smart technologies can support the independence of older adults while making the work of caregivers more efficient. The solution was developed by the organization Dohled na dosah and connected to the Digital Prak Testbed of the Regional Development Agency of the Liberec Region, enabling remote monitoring of the system and evaluation of the collected data.

The first results confirm that assistive technologies can significantly improve clients’ sense of safety, enable continuous monitoring without compromising privacy, and enhance information sharing among care professionals. The insights gained from the project will support the further development of modern technologies in social services and home care.

The project was implemented in cooperation between the Liberec Region, the Regional Development Agency, RoSa Residence Liberec, and the organization Dohled na dosah.
