Smart IoT solution for valve control and diagnostics for Sklopan Liberec.

Challenge
Sklopan Liberec a.s., a long-standing partner of the Technical University of Liberec, a partner of the EDIH Northeast Bohemia consortium, came up with a request to modernize its recycling line near Liberec. Some parts of the plant, which had not been developed together years ago, had started to fail and required upgrading.
Solution
As part of the Test Before Invest service, a concept for a smart IoT solution for valve control and diagnostics was proposed. Based on the consultation, several proposals were prepared, from which the company chose an option with decentralised control – a unit for 8 valves with advanced diagnostics capable of detecting faults or line breaks.
Result
- Creation and delivery of a working sample of the equipment for testing.
- First successful operational tests directly on the recycling line.
- Preparation for subsequent commercial production of the entire system outside the EDIH framework.
- Enhanced reliability and control of recycling line operation through advanced monitoring.
Benefits for the customer
- Replacement of unreliable parts of the line with modern technology.
- Immediate detection of faults during operation.
- Ensuring operational continuity and quality of the recycling line output.
- Using EDIH as an accelerator of innovation without the need for immediate investment.
