On 28 March 2025, we held a meeting focused on sharing good practice in the use of assistive technologies in elderly care. The event was held at the SeniorCentre SENECURA Liberec with the participation of its director Lucie Čechová, the management of the Pensioners’ Home Jindřichovice pod Smrkem, a contributory organisation of the Liberec Region, headed by the director Bc. Martina Valášková, member of the Regional Council for the Ministry of Social Affairs Ing. Anna Provaznikova and expert on assistive technologies Ing. Richard Cimler, Ph.D. from the Centre for Advanced Technologies of the Faculty of Science, University of Hradec Králové (member of the EDIH NEB consortium).
Senecura in Liberec currently uses 15 Anume assistive pads, which are equipped with sensors and connected to tablets on each floor. Thanks to them, staff receive real-time information about clients, especially in the area of positioning and prevention of pressure ulcers. The retirement home in Jindřichovice pod Smrkem had the opportunity to test these mats free of charge as part of a test scheme under the EDIH NEB project, more here. The purchase is currently being negotiated with the support of the Department of Social Affairs of the Liberec Region.
The meeting also included a tour of Senecura and a practical demonstration and exchange of experience of both institutions with assistive pads for elderly care. Ing. Richard Cimler, Ph.D. also introduced everyone to the new version of the software for assistive pads Anume and the possibilities of its connection with the Cygnus application for mobile phones. At the end we mutually agreed that the Regional Development Agency will provide an internship for selected employees of the Pensioners’ Home in Jindřichovice pod Smrkem, p.o. in the private facility SENECURA SeniorCentrum Liberec within the EDIH Northeast Bohemia project.
Digital technologies are a key tool for modernising social services and making care for the elderly more efficient in the Czech Republic. We are very pleased with the established cooperation and it confirms that the open exchange of experience and the use of EDIH NEB services can significantly accelerate digitalization and the implementation of necessary innovations.
